The Mt. Lebanon Junior Women’s Club Announces Its 2016 Major Grant Beneficiary

Mt. Lebanon, September 14, 2015

It is an honor to announce our 2015-2016 major grant beneficiary. We had many wonderful applicants and this year’s decision was not an easy one. We have chosen to seize the opportunity to make a difference by continuing a strong partnership to go beyond our traditional benefit format. This year, we plan on rearranging our traditional benefit format into one in which we immerse ourselves in the organization’s mission and in return, see the physical results of our efforts.  We are very excited to share with you that we have chosen to continue the work we started last year and have named The Education Partnership as our 2015-2016 Major Grant Beneficiary.

This year will not look the same as the last.  We will be participating in the “Adopt-A-School” program with the proceeds from our annual gala on March 19, 2016.  We will be volunteering and supporting the organization throughout the year by helping with events and assisting with making homework kits.  After this year’s benefit, we will have the opportunity to choose one or more schools in need in our area to adopt and sponsor.  Our funds will go directly to purchasing the supplies for homework kits for these children.  Then, next fall, we will gather again to make these homework kits for this school.  After the kits are ready, representatives from The Education Partnership and MLJWC will gather the students in an assembly to give them the homework kits.

“The Education Partnership provides the youth in our communities not only with the right tools necessary to attain an education but also to be inspired to believe in themselves and hope for a brighter future.  I look forward to providing The Education Partnership with the monetary resources necessary to advance its mission.  Just as importantly, I am excited for the opportunity to help inspire the youth in our communities through their Adopt-A-School program.” Shared by Dana Bloomburg, President of MLJWC

To honor The Education Partnership, MLJWC will hold its 19th Annual Charity Gala, “Spectacular! Spectacular!” with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Education Partnership.  The event will take place Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Doubletree, 1 Bigelow Square, downtown Pittsburgh.

We are very excited for this opportunity to grow and strengthen our partnership through seeing the direct results of our fundraising.

The benefit co-chairs are Sara Brett and Maggie Poole.  This year’s MLJWC board is:
